Our story

The garden path.

Roji is the garden path to a tea house, walked slowly so you arrive composed.

One Japanese ingredient at a time. We begin with hojicha: roasted green tea, distilled in Japan.

We named our house after that path because it reflects how we want to make things: slowly, thoughtfully, with all of it on the label.

We’re developing our first serum without added water or fragrance, so the scent comes from the roasted leaf itself. Our aim is small, dated batches, traced from leaf to bottle.

Formula & development

We’re developing a lightweight facial serum for daily use, with hojicha distillate as the base. Our goals are hydration, a finish without stickiness, and skin that feels soft and comfortable.

The formula, maker and packaging are still being developed. We’re planning a 30 ml bottle and will share the final ingredient list, testing and product details before release.

From leaf to distillate

    Leaf

    Hojicha begins as Japanese green tea, often from later harvests and often including the stems.

  2. 02

    Roast

    The tea is roasted over high heat until it turns reddish-brown. The grassy edge fades, and a toasted warmth takes its place.

  3. 03

    Distill

    Steam is passed through the roasted tea, then cooled and collected as a clear distillate that carries the tea’s aroma.

  4. 04

    Formulate

    We’re designing the serum around that distillate, in place of added water, with nothing added for fragrance.

We’ll share the source, tea type and method of distillation once they’re confirmed.

What does “no added water” mean?

We’re designing the formula around hojicha distillate instead of adding purified water as the base. The distillate itself is water-based; this does not mean the serum is water-free. We’ll publish the full ingredient list before release.

Is it fragrance-free?

We’re developing the serum without added fragrance or essential oils. Any scent would come from the roasted tea distillate. We’ll confirm the final formula before release.

Will it suit sensitive skin?

Suitability depends on the final formula and testing. We’ll share the full ingredient list and guidance before release.

Where will it be made and shipped?

We plan to make the serum in Japan and launch in the United States first. We’ll confirm the maker and shipping destinations before orders open.
