A cleanser that
starts with tea.
Our brief calls for steam-distilled Kyoto Uji hojicha hydrosol to replace purified water as the cleanser’s base. Its natural roasted-tea aroma is part of the idea.
Tea leaf water, at the heart.
Steam-distilled roasted-tea leaf water is our intended base and source of a warm, toasty aroma. The final balance and scent will be established with our manufacturer.
A considered cleansing system.
Amino-acid surfactants help lift oil and everyday buildup so they can be rinsed away. Our brief also excludes sulfates and PEGs; the finished formula and its performance still need testing.
A little thought for moisture.
These humectants are in our brief to help attract and retain moisture. They are starting points for formulation, not a promise about how the finished cleanser will perform.

What you’re reserving. Your $5 reserves one 150ml Batch 01 cleanser and is credited toward its $50 product price. ROJI is still in development. A reservation does not commit you to completing the purchase.
The remaining balance. We’ll invite you to complete your order after sharing the final ingredient list and shipping window. The remaining product balance is $45; any shipping charges and applicable taxes will be shown before you pay. There is no automatic charge for the balance.
How to get a refund. You can cancel your reservation at any time for a full $5 refund. Email [email protected] with the email address used at checkout and, if available, your Stripe receipt number. We’ll refund the full deposit to your original payment method, with no cancellation fee.
Timing, delays, or cancellation. A shipping window has not yet been confirmed. If a communicated shipping window changes, we’ll email you with revised timing and the choice to keep your reservation or receive a full refund. If you do not agree to a delay, or Batch 01 is cancelled or cannot be fulfilled, we’ll refund your deposit.

Will this sting?
We can’t promise that it won’t. The formula is not finalized or tested yet, and skin responses vary. Avoiding added perfume and essential oils is part of our brief, but it does not rule out irritation from other ingredients, including botanicals.
Is it safe with eczema or rosacea?
We haven’t established its suitability for eczema or rosacea. ROJI is being developed as a cosmetic cleanser. If you have either condition, review the final ingredient list with your dermatologist before deciding whether to use it.
Is it fragrance-free or unscented?
No. The concept includes a natural tea aroma. Our formulation brief excludes added perfume and essential oils, but naturally aromatic ingredients can still cause reactions. We won’t describe the cleanser as fragrance-free or assume a natural scent is suitable for everyone.
What does hojicha smell like?
Hojicha is roasted green tea, with warm, toasty, gently nutty notes. We’re aiming for a subtle version of that aroma in the cleanser. Its exact scent and strength will depend on the final hydrosol and formula.
Is it tested on sensitive skin?
Not yet. We’re still selecting a manufacturer and finalizing the formulation. We plan to evaluate the finished cleanser before shipping and will share the scope and results of any completed testing. We have no sensitive-skin test results to report today.
When will Batch 01 ship?
We don’t have a confirmed shipping window yet. It depends on selecting a manufacturer, finalizing the formula, and completing testing. We’ll publish a target window here and email reservation holders when we can support it. You can cancel your reservation for a full $5 refund; see our reservation terms.
How long does a 150ml bottle last?
We’ll confirm that once the pump output and directions are finalized. How long your bottle lasts will also depend on how often you cleanse and how much you use.
